The Lights Show Lies

I’m watching Why Not? With Shania Twain. It’s funny to see her go everywhere with lights. Even in a candid one-on-one, handheld camera situation, or going to the hospital she’s concerned about lights and what poor lighting does to her image. I thought I was crazy for thinking this myself, when I see photos where I look ratchet-hot mess and then another from the same day in different lighting looking like I envision myself to look. You just gotta have the right lights (or pay for a lighting crew)! :P

The lighting issue could definitely mess with your self-esteem, though. Just think you’re beautiful by default and if you look less than flattering, blame it on the lights!

Sometimes I go through an entire day without looking a mirror. Like the first day in Seattle. Then I go shopping and in the fitting room, I see myself for the first time, and I’m like WTF LINDA????? DEGREASE. TRY SOME MAKEUP.

I think that’s good sometimes, however, we should take pride in our natural beauty—grease or not.
