Up Close and Personal

There are apparently 3 topics you should never discuss in polite conversation: sex, religion, and politics. I don’t think I ever bring them up unless I’m trying to get to know someone (i.e. a date). I’ve listed my brief thoughts on these topics below:

Sex

Sex is awesome. Have a lot of it, have all of it. We’re human meaning we’re animals and that’s what we’re supposed to do. Be healthy, be safe. Explore fantasies, desires, and fetishes to your body’s content as long as it’s mutually consented and somewhat legal. And even if it’s not, go to some place where it is. For virgins of anything, I recommend doing it with someone you trust to be mindful of your well-being. That’s true of sex and extreme sports.

Religion

Religion can be awesome. Personally, I’m in tune with my spirituality without the help of out-of-the-box higher power rules (religion). But some people need it. In fact, I draw on several of these out-of-the-box rules from several religions. I grew up Christian (Baptist) and a lot of my ideals and personal beliefs are based on that faith, but I wouldn’t consider myself Christian anymore (this is undecided, don’t quote me). I find people who push their religions on other people to be those whom live in fear. I don’t look highly upon them. Sharing your beliefs is one thing, but looking down on others for believing different or not going to church is disrespectful.

Politics

Hate politics. Hate politics in social settings, work, government. Hate. I feel that politics is based on greed and a chess game that puts innocent lives at stake. It’s a game that sometimes costs people’s lives and well-being. I don’t subscribe to a particular party, but I usually side democrats and remain moderate. I describe myself as conservatively liberal, or even liberally conservative. It depends on how sensible I’m feeling. I’m very logical about any topic, however. I don’t like the idea of legalizing abortion because I feel like it would be abused, same with marijuana. However, I do feel that they should be legal for emergent situations, like health and safety. These are both situations that don’t directly affect me because I am neither a woman nor a pot smoker (however, I could eventually need pot for medical reasons).

Sex is awesome.
