It is true that actions speak louder than words, but there are things a guy says sometimes that makes you feel special. I mean, I don’t know about you but when he communicates to you that you are important to him, that you make him feel special too, it’s a pretty fantastic feeling. So I asked a few of my friends what their boyfriends and husbands say to them to make them feel special.

Cara: “Brad calls me babe, which is pretty standard I guess but I love it!”
Linda: “Alan calls me ‘my love’ and says I’m the love of his life.”
Patrick: “Dan tells me he loves me and I’m pretty, just little things. ”
Bri: “Mike calls me wifey, sweetheart, Wife of my Life. He told me my ass looked nice this morning. :]”
Ashley: “Everything Peter says makes me feel special, but I hate it when he calls me ‘sweetie’.”
Philip: “Greg calls me ‘kitteh.’ [It's] special because I know he says it with love. Even in the midst of an argument it brings a smile to my face and makes whatever we’re fighting about seem so small.”
Suki: “Ryan works long hours coding and says it’s because he thinks every day about how he’ll provide for me.”
Shelby: “Spenser calls me ‘snugglebutt’…. Everything he says makes me feel good. He tells me he loves me like 9,000 times a day, says I’m his favorite. He says I’m the cutest…. And he still says these things after 8 months of being together practically 24/7 from living and working together. I think that’s the most special thing.”
Christa: “Our pet names for each other are actually ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ – so he’ll say something like ‘that’s classic Wife,’ or ‘dinner date with Wife…’ and we even made coffee cups for each other that say ‘Coffee for Husband’ and ‘Coffee for Wife’…. Oh and he also calls me ‘sugar shorts’ because that’s what my bike shorts are called and he thinks it’s funny. It is funny.”
Tiffany: “Nick tells me pretty regularly that I am the most important part of his day. And that is a lovely thing to hear from your spouse.”

Me: T called me “babe,” and it made me do this,

I think it’s these endearing words and the endearing actions and the reciprocity of these things that keep a relationship going, the give and take. It’s important to reward each other with affection and loyalty — words and actions.
